As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been making an effort to get up early each morning to make the most of my day. So far, so good – and my productivity levels have been way up! Plus, it’s a great way to get my runs in before the weather gets super hot.
I usually hate getting up in the morning and have a bad habit of hitting the snooze button more than just a few times – I even set the alarm a little extra early just so I can ‘snooze’ for longer! But lately I’ve come to the realisation that it doesn’t matter what time I get up, unless I’ve had a major sleep-in till noon or something, I’ll always feel super sleepy and ready to roll over and get some more zzzs. So instead of hitting the snooze button, I force myself up and out of bed instead. Once I’ve splashed some water in my face, I’m usually more awake and ready to face the day!
Another habit I plan to eliminate? When the alarm goes off, instead of getting up, I’d laze in bed while checking the latest pics on Instagram. I used to think that would be a fun way of waking myself up plus all the sporty fitstagram pics would inspire me to get out of bed and workout. But what I ended up doing was scrolling…and scrolling… and scrolling… and suddenly almost an hour would have gone by and I’ve run out of time to work out. So instead I’ve banned Instagram from my morning routine and saved it instead as a reward for after I’m finished a task – like working out!
