Lately, I’ve fallen victim to the online shopping craze – something I’ve been able to avoid up to now. I used to prefer shopping in stores where I could try the clothes on and wouldn’t be dazzled by how good they look on the hot model in that photo with professional lighting and Photoshop.
But over the last couple of months, I’ve found myself indulging in some impulsive buying online. So far, I’ve been lucky as most of the clothes I’ve selected have turned out to be great choices – and a few have pleasantly surprised me, turning out to be even better in real life than they looked in the pictures.
In the last couple of the weeks, the craze has intensified – but I try to assuage the guilt trips by telling myself that these are awesome end-of-season winter bargains. I know summer’s coming in Australia, but I’ve been snapping up my winter buys so as to have a fantastic brand new wardrobe ready to go for next year’s winter. The trick? To ignore the trends and instead purchase long lasting, high quality basics that’ll stand the test of time.
With that in mind, I’m adoring my brand new Portmans sheer wool wrap in grey – so soft and cosy and simply perfect for lounging around the house, weekend brunches and casual Fridays. For its debut in my Outfit of the Day, I’m pairing it with a bright blue tunic top (again from Portmans – what can I say, that brand has me wrapped around its little finger) and black leggings from Cotton On. Best of all – I don’t even have to wait till next winter to get some wear out of it – this outfit is perfect for the cool yet sunny days of spring right now.
