Inspiration: 5ftinf

Over the past year, I’ve been really enjoying the beautiful and charming works of 5ftinf, a British artist who has the most amazing knack of arranging flowers and other little knickknacks into the most stunning vignettes. I also love reading her blog posts explaining the process that goes on behind her gorgeous table arrangements and how she mainly uses seasonal flowers from her garden and other ‘bits and pieces’ she finds on her walks. She’s an amazing artist and I just had to share her with you!

Another thing I also find fascinating about 5ftinf is the fact that she has synesthesia, which is an amazing neurological phenomenon where different senses are combined. For example, someone with synesthesia might be able to taste colour or feel music. How cool is that? It reminds me of the SBS Insight Cyborg episode which featured Neil Harbisson who was born colour blind but then had an antenna implanted with which he could perceive colours as sound waves. I definitely recommend checking out the show because it’s so fascinating listening to Harbisson talk about how he ‘hears’ colours and in particular what sounds he was hearing just from looking at the Insight host Jenny Brockie’s outfit. Super cool!
