Healthy Hot Breakfast: ham, cheese and avocado wrap

I’m still on the lookout for healthy hot breakfasts that will hit the sweet spot during those early mornings at work in an office that can be, at times, freezing. And this week, I think I found one that really takes the prize. Are you ready for this? A ham, cheese and avocado wrap!

Ham, Cheese and Avocado Wrap - Toasted

It’s healthy, filling and can be put together pretty quickly and warmed up on the office sandwich press (luckily, we have a really great toaster in the office). Simply lay out a large wrap (I use Lebanese wholemeal flatbread), spread some fresh avocado over the top, lay out a few slices of ham, and sprinkle a mix of grated cheese over the whole deal. (I used Kraft’s Mexican three cheese mix of cheddar, Colby Jack and queso quesadilla.) Fold the bread over like an omelette and leave it in the sandwich press until the cheese is warm and gooey. Slide onto a plate and eat!

Tip: Feel free to play around with the flavours – for an even healthier wrap, add sliced mushrooms, spinach, rocket, chopped tomatoes, capsicum and even scrambled eggs or tofu. Or go the sweet route – spread your wrap with nutella, warm it up and when it’s done, topped with blueberries, strawberries and a light sprinkling of powdered sugar. Enjoy! 🙂
